"Ron Diiulio is the kind of person you wish you met years ago, and who you'll no doubt want to share with friends or colleagues once you get to know him. He's an expert in telescope technology, capturing astronomical data as well as the science that's behind the images. What makes Ron an even more rare blend is that he's a professional communicator with a passion for sharing his knowledge.
I met Ron many years ago while I was developing the RSpec spectroscopy software. At the time (being in cloudy Seattle), I didn't have access to telescope. I was fortunate enough though to know Ron. Using his remote telescopes, he and I did a lot of spectroscopy. Over the years, I learned a lot from Ron about telescope design and usage as well as how to efficiently capture images and data with a telescope. Ron and I have collaborated with great results on a variety of projects, including developing hands-on astronomy labs and curricula, capturing spectra of specialized objects, telescope instrument design, developing tools for remote telescope use, etc. I consider myself lucky to have met and worked with Ron. He's unintimidating and easy to work with. His respect for others and his commitment to service make him one of a kind. I owe a lot of my success in the field to my association with Ron and the help he has given me."
